Benefits & Compensation Manager

Overview:
The Benefits and Compensation Manager is a key member of the HR team and responsible for the management, design, communication, compliance and administration of employee benefits and compensation programs for Furnitureland South. This position will ensure that all plans are administered in accordance with all federal and state regulations and all plan provisions are followed. This position oversees the payroll function and assist with process and policy development. To be successful, The Benefits and Compensation Manager should be driven to perform at a very high level, possess strong customer service skills, be passionate about leading change and stay on top of payroll, compensation and benefit trends and best practices. Being enthusiastic and interested in helping, persuading and organizing interest areas with a focus on assisting, serving, counseling and teaching other people will be key to this role.
Essential Functions:
Benefits Responsibilities:
Administer the company benefits program.
Receive employee questions related to benefits and compensation and work with outside partners such as brokers and carriers to resolve issues timely.
Collaborate with outside partners such as brokers, benefit vendors and legal entities.
Evaluate employee benefits policies to access whether they are current, competitive, and legal.
Prepare management reports to provide plan performance and success indicators.
Serve as liaison between insurance providers and employees; serve as subject matter expert supporting management.
Support design of annual benefits and manages open enrollment process including HRIS design and testing, open enrollment preparation and communication, training and audit/transfer of open enrollment data.
Support quarterly, semi-annually and annual reviews of the plan with vendors and brokers.
Assist with administering employee orientation.
Work with outside partners in preparing insurance and pension-related reports for mandatory audits required by government agencies.
Ensure accurate and efficient record-keeping.
Maintain compliance checklist for employee benefits plans. Work with insurance carries, brokers and legal firms for ensuring update-to-date compilation.
Assist with benefit plan renewals.
Keep current on industry, regulatory and legislative development that can affect the company benefits packages.
Various administrative duties pertaining to benefits and compensation.
Communicate with shareholders, management, employees, service providers and various agencies regarding benefits, payroll, taxes and confidential employee information.
Responsible for monthly reconciliation of benefits enrollments to carrier bills. Work directly with carriers on any billing adjustments as needed.
Work with outside partners in reviewing legal filings such as Form 5500, etc.
Compensation Responsibilities:
Coordinate and supervise the work activities of the payroll administrator ensuring timely and accurate processing of payrolls.
Oversee the distribution of pay and benefits information to the company employees.
Assist with setting the company?s pay structures and benefit offerings.
Ensure that pay and benefits plans comply with federal and state regulations.
Determining competitive wage rates and develop/modify compensation plans. Monitor market conditions and government regulations to ensure pay rates are current and competitive. Analyze data on wages and salaries and evaluate how the organization?s pay structure compares with that of other companies. Develop pay scales and make recommendations to management.
Use HRIS system (UltiPro) to run payroll reports.
Work with HR managers and the IT department on recommendations for improvement to proprietary/supplemental payroll processes as needed.
Stay knowledgeable of running payrolls and able to be a backup with payroll administrator is absent.
Ensure efficiency and compliance of confidential employee information.
Work with HRIS company (Ultimate Software) to determine how-tos and resolve issues and run various reports.
Be conversant in in federal/state/local laws and regulations (including, but not limited to wage and hour, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA/ADA, PPACA, I9, FLSA, COBRA, etc.). Ability to interpret and advise on the application of laws and regulations in regards to the administration of company policy.

Knowledge of UltiPro HRIS software strongly preferred.
Proficient in MS Office products.
Excellent time management skills and ability to simultaneously coordinate multiple tasks and projects accurately.
Ability to work independently and problem solve on a consistent basis.
Working knowledge of all Human Resources disciplines and process improvements as to assist the Director of Human Resources with HR projects.
Essential Education and Training Qualifications:
Bachelor?s Degree in Business or Human Resources
10 to 15 years of relevant HR experience with a primary focus on compensation and benefits compliance and administration. Five years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
Experience managing and administering compensation, health & welfare, and retirement plans.
Travel Requirements ? less than 10%.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
